so, im struggling on how to make midbass on FL studio. i havent found out a proper way on how to do it.

for those of you who don't know what im talking about. its the corresponding sequence to the bassline. very bouncy, made with 16th notes.

how do you make this?!

Well, there are probably several ways. Post an example of what you want to do so I can help better.

But from the top of my head I'd say you were intrested in a super-saw type bassline.

in this video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ooHmgl5ugxU

you can hear the mid-bass build up from 00:37, then drop with the regular bass at 00:55. its a stuttery sound, but goes along with the underlying bass.

It takes practice to find sounds that fit together. The mid bass is obviously highpass filtered quite a bit, it doesn't sound like there is much low frequency content in the midbass sound at all. Then add some delays.

First and foremost, find a sound that's close to what you want. Hopefully you have some solid synths/ samplers, hopefully you have something which will get you in the ballpark. Then just practice putting together kicks, basses and midbasses. Try out different effects on the midbasses - maybe some delays, maybe some reverb, maybe a modulation effect (chorus/flanger/phaser). I'd recommend EQing your effects as well (if using send effects), that is, cut out the low end from delays, choruses, reverb.

There are many different ways to combine kicks/basses/midbasses. It really comes down to spending a lot of time putting sounds together, working out what works and doesn't work for what you're personally trying to do.

fl has a multiband compressor just select it take the gains out from the bottom and top and use the mid notes plus eq to boot and hey presto ;)

i dont think its a layerd bass, it just starts off highpassed like someone else said.

I guess that would do the job too, but it seems like overkill to use a multiband compressor instead of a simple highpass filter/ EQ.

Meh, as long as the end result is good!

Pattern should look something like this (first bar):

Pattern should sound something like this (first bar):
[[ LINK REMOVED ]]

The mid-bass shouldn't sound perfect on it's own, it is more important how it sits in the mix with all the other sounds.

For example (full loop):
[[ LINK REMOVED ]]

Most importantly you want to eq out all the lower frequencies and add some boosts to the more mid and higher frequencies. Personally i like to use a tube amp emulator to also color the sound a little bit. Compression is biggy if you are using multiple sounds to create one solid bass. And of course when you have the complete bass sidechain it to your kick or whatever trigger you decide to use.

Obviously this is a bit of a simplified description with a really simple example, but if you need anymore help send me a PM.

I don't have the project file by itself but what i will do for you and anyone else who has questions is I'll make a full bassline(high, mid, sub) in FL using only the 3xosc and the fl plugins.

I could also do it in reason if enough people want me to.
