need help with a bass line

I've never been good at making bass lines, I usually stick to offbeat in a trance song. The thing is I'm working on something right now that would really benefit from a funky/deep bass line. That's why I would like some help with doing this because after a few attempts I've come to the realization that I suck :(
Here's the sample of what I'm doing: SAMPLE, still pretty empty since I just started about 20 minutes ago :tongue2
Chords are: Cmaj7, Em7, Dm7, Fmaj7
All help is appreciated. |

Well you're gonna have to start focusing some time on music production studies, there's no magic way to instantly learn composing and producing basslines. This could take years, or it could take weeks and months. It just depends on the person.
Some things that might help:
* learning about envelopes including ADSR
* studying mixdowns so you can "fit" your kick with your bassline
* learning how to effectively duck your bassline if neccesary
* understanding oscillators and waveforms
* sound design including designing your own synths

| copy the baseline of another track that you like, thats what I do, makes you feel a little better and you learn while you do it. Your track is quite soft, I dont know how much diversity a baseline could get away with, but dont let me hold you back! |

wtf? I asked for some help in making a bassline for this particular song, not for tips on how to begin producing music. Maybe telling me to learn about envelopes and oscillators would have helped some 7 months ago. |

Most of the bassline is a perfected envelope, a tiny bit of EQ, compression, a tiny bit of reverb and side chain compression. so you can be defensive about it or you can actually heed my advice. if you really understood and practiced ADSR effectively then you wouldn't be asking "how to make basslines". |

Find a bassline you like in another song and steal it.

the bassline is not bad but your bassdrum sounds weak, have anything on it?

bassline is aight, nothing too crazy, as another person stated. but the bassdrum AND the bass both are pretty weak imo, for a house track it does not have the proper amount of bass that it should.
plus i think he trying more to focus on making a good bass pattern not on trying to make a bass. two completely differnet ballparks.
and before you challenge me on my "bass knowledge" as you did another user, u should have a listen to a electro house track i started but never finished.:p
