I miss playing out. My only gigs this year were at Thrive and at Firehouse in Austin for a Tritonal and Dave Dresden event. As long as the crowd wants to hear the music I offer, I'm not above any gig.

he played the same exact tracks in Dallas. I even remember the first 3 in your list were the exact first 3 for us too. he must have his general tracklist down
Matthias
I've been so out of the loop on new tracks that I didn't recognize a thing. Ah well.

My review:

First opener: he played some decent tracks, but he must have been inexperienced as to how to open a night and build a dancefloor. The dancefloor stayed empty and Glen Morrison didn't really have anything to take over from so he started from scratch. It's a hard timeslot to play as its before the crowd has enough drinks in them and/or before the drugs have kicked in. But in my opinion if you can't handle the job, the let someone like Benjamen D, El Nino, Wes Walz, or hell 'myself' :) show em how its done. It once again proves its not beatmatching or mixing skills that makes the DJ, its programming and playing the right track for the right moment.

Glenn Morrison:

Did a textbook job of what I stated above. I prefered his sound over Armin's, but that's my thing. Glenn is probably my second favorite opener next to Edgar V.

Armin:

I can't comment on the tracks he played as I didn't recognize a single one. It sounded good though. All I know is, Armin has radically changed his sound over the years from the dark progressive he used to play in '99 and 2000. Stage presence wise he seemed to have turned into another Tiesto/Oakenfold. With the exception that he plays good music :P I had a good time, and one hell of a grey goose aided hangover that lasted all the way until the next night. :sadgreen: As good as he was however, Paul van Dyk still owned him. Then again...that's a preference thing. What has always set PvD apart from the other headliners, is that he exclusively re-edits over half the tracks he plays with his own basslines giving his sets a unique edge. Its all good. Armin's a good guy and I'm happy he got number 1.

you didn't recognize a single track? Most of the tracks he plays are the current top tracks in trance right now. Listen to some new sets and radio shows ;)

I don't really have the time to listen to anything these days, much less work on my own music. Meaning I don't have enough time to sit at a computer to listen to sets and radio shows. If I had a cozy office job where I could do this at or satellite radio in my car, then yeah I could keep current easier ;)

well yeah. The cozy office job does help me keep up with di.fm pretty well
