The Prove Me Wrong Thread - FL Studio Pro Mid Bass w/out Hardware

I've always had a HUGE opinion of doubt for anyone who says you can make a pro mid/sub bass in FL Studio.
My reasoning for this is for the fact that I feel like I have taken ALL YOUR ADVICE and not acheived even an accidental growth in my sounds.
I'm trying to make this practical and I want people to stick with this thread.
This thread is NOT going to be about theory, or magical parameters.
This is going to be about ME submitting project files (I'll do one after another till people start responding) and people looking at EXACTLY what I'm doing on a DAW level, not mp3 or wav or midi.
Thats why I ask first, only FL users (I'm sorry I just don't know how to use anything else except reason and I want to keep this on a DAW level)
**Before I start** and this is important.
I'm going to pick 3 popular vsts that I hope most of you have if you're using FL. One of these 3 or all 3 will be used in my flps so please tell ME NOW or soon if you want me to use another vst.
I'm picking:
Styrus
Z3ta
Albino 3
Those are the 3 I usually wind up using the most anyway for bass (+ hypersonic) I find.
*************A few side notes***************
ANYONE and I mean ANYONE who has FL and one of those 3 synths can also participate, afterall this is called the "prove me wrong thread".
I don't believe a PRO sounding mid bass/sub bass can be achieved on FL.
I can't tell you why, I can just tell you I've never heard it before in my productions or other peoples. Sure the track in its entirety may sound great, but the mid bass always sounds too achievable, too amateur.
After you present your flp I'll then most likely tell you why it sounds amateur, I won't give any advice on how to make it sound better unless you're breaking known cardinal rules in trance.
All I want to see come out of this thread is **ONE** flp that stumps me. You can try using hardware and tricking us but that fact will reveal when you refuse to submit an flp.
best of luck to all.. you will need it =] |

| What's so different about FL? It can use the same VSTs as any other DAW, so it really looks like to me you're saying that a "'pro' mid bass" can't be made with VSTs at all... |

I thought I use this thread to say that I'm out of this in stupid forum.
Good luck with your music everyone. :)

Well I can't speak on behalf of other DAWS cause I've never used them.
As far as whats so different from Fruity everyone says its the same as everything else, but everyone who also says that didn't make Fruity.
If Fruity did have some kinda "genetic" deformity from birth only the software engineers would know, they wouldn't tell us, so either way if Fruity was sonically fvcked in some way we'd never find out.
So to save time yes I'm saying the mid basses we aspire to, simply can not be made with vsts. Now the problem here is I'm saying "that we aspire to", and someone else can come in and say "I don't aspire for that sound".
But under general consensus, when I start linking examples, I'm sure most people would love to create that kind of mid bass, and MANY will also think that sound could be made with vsts.
But my guarantee is in this thread, the simple fact when not a single person posts anything remotely close to the reference songs I'll be getting up in a bit.
I gotta shoot over to Home Depot real quick but I'll start getting this thread in shape cause I know people may think this is gonna be one of those hardware vs software debates.
Its not.
The way this thread will work is if you say "software is just as capable as hardware" then you will be obligated to submit proof in your project file by making a bassline, simple enough I think.
If you can't do that, then anything you type imo is irrelevant. (not speaking to you specifically, anyone with that mentality pretty much)
edit: and just a note I've been saving some of the examples I'll be posting for years, people say things like "you can't tell what vst is being used" or "you can't distinguish a good vst from a good piece of hardware"
And my examples will prove those myths wrong. |
