Chime in.

So yeah, out of no where i am going to Alaska. My buddy needs to kick heroin so what better then a road trip? After plotting places to go we set on Canada. My buddy is a big time pot smoker so its a win for him. Well i figured since we are that far up there might as well go to Alaska. I have always wanted to go, what better time then now? I have done 2 trips to NYC and 1 to Miami so i know what i am getting into, plus i like driving...

Well we pretty much have 2 weeks to blow. Anyone have recommendations on where to stay? What to do, what to see on the cheap side?

All I really have set right now is driving up the coast, staying in Frisco a night, checking out Yosemite, maybe Portland maybe Seattle. Vancouver for sure, Anchorage for sure.

Where else should i go?

I dunno, just make sure you have a plan in case you break down while driving through Canada. Not sure if AAA or road-side insurance with your insurance peeps might cover that...

...or might be an extra addon.

Would suck to get stuck in the middle of no where with no uncostly tow available.

Yeah i have AAA and i am upgrading my cell data and phone plan to a Canada friendly plan...

AAA doesn't really work in Canada but at least i get a discount.

Only thing i am worried about in the fires right now, but thats not going to stop my trip.

You might consider visiting the Hoh Rainforest in Olympic National Park near Seattle: http://www.nps.gov/olym/planyourvis...ing-the-hoh.htm

"The Hoh Rain Forest is located in the stretch of the Pacific Northwest rainforest which once spanned the Pacific coast from southeastern Alaska to the central coast of California. The Hoh is one of the finest remaining examples of temperate rainforest in the United States and is one of the park's most popular destinations."

Sounds like an excellent trip. Plan ahead and have a great time.
