It's that time of the year again to vote in the most prestigious poll for DJs of all genres. The DJMag top 100. Check the link below if you'd like to vote. As producers, I tend to think we have a better ear for evaluating talent in DJs than the average joe blow :)

My top 5
1. Andy Moor
2. Stephen Wiley
3. Paul Oakenfold
4. Kenneth Thomas
5. Robert Vadney

| People still think their vote will actually count for this bull poll? These polls are rigged as they come. |

This is a DJ'ing poll, not producing!
One of my pet peeves.....(DJs gaining their merits as a 'DJ' when what people really enjoy is their productions)
Every year I go through these lists and see names on it and think good lord that guy is an awful DJ, how in the world was he voted so high?
DJ'ing and producing are two separate entities!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's that time of the year for the old debate again.
I don't think both are that separate at all, but I got your point. Every single promoter relies on dj mag nowadays. "You need to be there or you'll be... square". I don't believe there will be changes and to be honest, I don't care much about it. The public is tired of whores, but the press relies on them. Because whores pay for the advertising. If you don't advertise into dj mag, you don't get an interview, if you don't get an interview, you remain unnoticed. That's their point of view.
I had been intensively dj'ing since 1996 when I decided to give up on decks. It took me two years to realize that the dj mag thing shouldn't influence one's career. And now, it's all about dj'ing in Belgium here, and finding good dates and residencies. End of story. I voted for myself this year, and I don't feel ashamed, but don't expect to see me inside this list anyway. There are better opportunities elsewhere. We all just need to see them. And we don't need to whore and be on our knees for votes from fans, like many do. Because this way they just put the sticker "WHORE INSIDE" onto their faces.
Now can someone tell me why there's an integrated database so when you start typing, some names appear, and some don't???
I feel vote rigging from dj mag themselves this year. That's the only change.
Like in everything else in life, it's a question of balance. Question is: where is the middle on yours? |
