Four-part multitimbral capability with four separate outputs.
Nice. Why the hell didn't they do that with the Prophet '08? it's also expandable with several Tetras AND can do a unison with all available voices. Very nice. I *may* get one at some point. Definitely used after-market in a year or so.
Tetra is shipping now!
Price: $799.00
It's also get the nicer style knobs. :D |

I wouldn't be surprised if the Prophet 08 mkII incorporates the new knobs and multitimbral capability. |

You can already buy an edition of the P08 with the new knobs or have the original version retrofitted. |

| quote: | In Multi Mode, Tetra becomes a multitimbral sound module capable of playing four monophonic parts on four MIDI channels, with separate outputs for each voice. Coupled with a MIDI sequencer and DAW, Tetra can play complex arrangements or analog drum parts with each part individually processed and recorded to its own track...
Up to four Tetras can be poly chained for eight, twelve, or sixteen voices total. When used with a Prophet '08, up to two Tetras can be poly chained for a maximum of sixteen voices. In addition, the Prophet's front panel controls map directly to almost all of Tetra's parameters, so the Prophet acts as a programmer and control surface. |
So, if you poly chain a P08 and one or two Tetras, wouldn't that make your P08 multitimbral as well, assuming you're routing the P08 into the Tetra? If so, I wonder how voices are allocated. |

| Being able to chain to a Prophet is kinda weird. Since the Prophet doesn't has sub OSCs. Whatever, though. |

Yeah - good point. There's one sub-osc per voice (4 total) in the Tetra, so it would seem that voice stealing would occur only in the subs once 4 of the voices are used. |
