Going to Cuba on the 4th of Sept, looking for the least expensive flight and hotel, don't really care about star ratings as we will be eating off the resort and visiting family. Looking for preferably Trinidad or Santa Clara or Varadero.
I know of Redtag, Selloffvacations, cheaptickets and itravel2000... does anyone know any other sites that have good prices on trips?

Hi Jennie, I just got back a couple of weeks ago. I did the same searches you did... and I had great service from the local mall flight centre, as they were able to give personal advice, and match or beat any of the quotes I got off the net. A travel agent also has access to the hotels and deals you won't find off the web.
Do your research (don't forget tripadvisor for other traveller's opinions and advice) then go see a travel agent. You'll be glad you did!

REALLY?!
I always thought that travel agents were more expensive cause of fees.

I went on flightcentre.ca and sent a message with my custom requests. I got a call withn 2 hours from a local agent at the upper canada mall in newmarket which is the closest mall from here.
She said clearly she'll match or beat anything online. I went up for a visit and talked about my needs, and shared some ideas with her and other travel agents. It's part of their job to go to resorts for their vacations, write out evaluations and such. They hear feedback regularly from their customers on hits or misses, and wouldn't recommend a place where customers recently came back from with bad experiences. I believe they got a better ear to the scene than most.
So basically, scout out some suggestions (printouts from online discounters, and hear what they have to say. You're not obliged to buy through them on your visits anyways. |

Jealous you're going with/for family...you get to pay with with Cuban pesos, lucky. Nonetheless, it's still cheap to visit. Have a great time. |

| I'm actually going with friends, but visiting some family while I'm there... Kill two birds with one stone, you know how it goes... My liver will need a break at some point in the week, and family is always a good excuse. |
