Korg Radias

I know I started a thread about this earlier but I wanted to start a new one because they're not very relevant.

So I've got my Radias going (Rack version)

So far, I am extremely impressed. The sounds I'm able to get out of this synth are exactly the type of sounds I'm looking for, which is so motivating. The synth has a huge learning curve because it is soooooo flexible but I believe (and I could be wrong) that this thing is not given proper credit. I'd rate its sound quality production right up there with any VA, and I don't know of another VA that is more versatile except maybe Gladiator 2. My only complaint is the thing is only 24 voices, but honestly I have not been disappointed at any point to where I feel like I need more voices out of a patch. With some very clever routing you can set up polyphonic sounds using the virtual patches with the synth using just 1 voice. Some more interesting and cool things are the ability to load patches from the MS2000 and R3. Korg has put them out, and with the editing software provided by Korg, you can put them on the Radias with a few clicks and you've got yourself all the MS2000 presets but much more power to edit them. The editor also allows you to make patches on the computer and send them via USB to the synth with ease. From reading over on the forum menu, some users take the settings of other Korg products and re-produce them in the editor (copy them) and then export them to the Radias. I know none of this is ground breaking as other synths can do this, but it's a really nice feature when you take into account you can get a used rack for just $550. So much versatility and power for such a reasonable price.

Anyway, I don't think anybody here said they had a Radias in the thread I made before this one. I picked mine up for $549 shipped from eBay and got a hell of a deal. (Original box, packaging, etc. Looked like it was never even used. Even was wrapped in that white waxy like styrofoam) - I would highly recommend anyone looking into a VA to check this thing out. It is not just some soft synth in a box which many believe. However; if anybody has used one of these extensively and feels like they can make an informed opinion on the Radias, please do tell. Nobody seems to talk bad about it on the Korg forums and I havn't read anything negative about it, but that doesn't mean it has some shortfalls.

Sorry for my mini-novel :) I'll be posting back in this thread after I finish the manual regarding some terms and functions that the manual is talking about that I do not understand. Cryo, Digi, Alanzo, perhaps you could dumb it down for me? :) Much appreciated as always. Can't put a price on somebody explaining something to you so you can understand it.

Here are some demos from the unit. Keep in mind this is just the synth. No external FX, drums, etc. All from the Radias.

Meh. :p

The demos are more geared towards the overall aspect of it and don't really focus on one thing which is what we do in producing. We're not trying to make an entire song on a racked synth (at least im not)

I made a freakin crazy supersaw program using the 4 part timbres. 9 oscillators all stacked with ring mod - it was ridiculous

one thing that has been surprising to me is the bass in the synth. i havn't made any but some of the presets are reallllly good. Will have to do more toying before i can comment on anything else
