An important question about flannel shirts

I'm having a discussion about flannel shirts right now, and I decided to turn to the CORe for help, this being the (un)wisest thing to do.

Now, what do flannel shirts remind you of?

I see what you did there, linguist.

I said Lumberjacks, but I own a couple flannel shirts, so I can't complain. I actually think it looks alright on me.

There's more to "chavs" than just being blue collared working classes. One of the key marks of a chav is demonstrations of wealth even though they don't have any. It manifests itself in cheap jewellery, fake designer brands such as Burberry and cheap cars souped up with rims, exhausts and pointlessly powerful sound systems.

These days, flannel shirts remind me of hipsters who try and extend "lo fi" to their dress sense.

Paulo Filho always wears flannel with no sleeves:

flannel shirts are making a comeback surprisingly enough. last time i was at the mall, i saw Guess making flannels...tighter, more fitted ones in the juniors section and was like, "wow...flannels? really?"

*edit*

Zipntf! That cap, is awesome! And, System-J, I didn't know what a hipster was when I posted this thread, but I think you can lump them together with us rockers, skaters, and Brazilians :D

Weird, I've never seen a flannel shirt with no sleeves, heh. I just tend to fold the sleeve of my shirts upwards, as most people do:

I'm surprised by the appearance of the now ubiquitous flannel shorts, actually. They were virtually non-existent a couple of years ago, and now there isn't a single store that doesn't sell them. Flannel dresses are not unheard of around here, either, though I've never seen a flannel qipao:

Now this would be hotter than hot! Flowers are gay and dragons are too dragonny... it's about time they made a mandarin gown with the burberry check or something :p

Pics? And, more to the point, is it a blue flannel oriental dress? I hope that's what you're talking about when you say "artwork" :p
