I hope you don't prescribe that garbage as if it was candy like most doctors do. Instead of wasting money paying people to give away pills they could spend that money on actually helping them. Sorry but I hate prescription pills and everyone involved with them :gsmile: |
doctors are merely puppets for the pharmaceutical industry. if doctors are pushing meds down your throat, they're getting a %, trust me lol
my mom's gyno kept trying to push her to take all these hormone prescriptions and stuff when my mom was going through menopause and my mom didn't want to take anything because she literally had NO menopause symptoms. no hot flashes, no real noticeable mood swings, her bloodwork was totall normal...i mean she was fine. exercising all the time, etc....
anyway it really pissed her off how every time she'd go for a visit he'd try to sell her on some new drug to take. she found a new doc after a while.
anyway, neo...what exactly do you specialize in? i mean i'm assuming you just got done with med school/internship? |

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Western medicine is far too focused on treatment rather then prevention. But I mean, we all know it's because there's no money in prevention. :p |

There's plenty of money in prevention -- money saved by not having to treat illnesses that were prevented -- but no one sees any of that immediately, so people don't care about it.
:p |

| Well duh. But that's the kind of money people tend to prefer, now is it? |

exactly.
our whole system with healthcare is really ed up, dont even get me started.
i mean starting with the fact that every doctors office is filled with fat, bitchy, minimum wage employees who don't give a about you. it's all ass backwards. i thought you were supposed to go to the doctor to feel better, i usually leave there feeling annoyed and jipped lol |

| I remember a few years back I was all funked up so I went to the doctor for help. After 15 minutes of talking I walked out with two different bottles of anxiety pills and one box of depression pills. He told me I would be taking all this for about a year. Few weeks later I was just getting worse so I shot it all in the garbage. After that I got back to normal :D Who knows If I wouldn't have made that one decision to throw them out, I might be some zombie today or worse killed myself. |

i had the same exact experience. was going through some "situational depression/anxiety" (basically i was just in a ty relationship and a ty time in my life) and i wasn't even in the office 10 minutes before he sent me off with 2 prescriptions. i tried them for a month and was like this. they made me feel worse. i finally got my together and was back to normal several months later but i know exactly what you mean. |

I love when people come in swinging like this. Why? Because in the US and the UK, people COMPLAIN when they DON'T get a prescription for pills. The people like you and I that don't want a pill unless it is necessary, are a lot fewer and farther between. |

The best doctors around here seem to be naturopaths. They actually sit with you and collect a detailed health history and look at your WHOLE picture of health. Instead of treating SYMPTOMS, they come up with solutions to change your lifestyle or whatever it is that's causing the problem. So instead of prescribing pills...they'll tell you ways to change your diet, or teach you techniques of relaxation, or whatever. Stuff like that.
They will only prescribe medication as a last resort. |
