Ok so I am trying to record a set I am spinning in my living room. I am using RCA to mic cables. (if that makes any sense) And it sounds like crap~ mixer: xone 92 software: audacity

(angry person ahhaha) Your help is much APPRECIATED :D:D:D:D:D

Firstly try the DJ booth for this sort of thing....

Anyway, You need to set the input on your soundcard to line in, not mic in (why it prbably sounds like crap, and secondly you need to get your gain staging right so you;re not clipping on the master of the mixer nor the intput on audacity. You want your highest peak to be at -3dbfs on the meter, that way with even two tracks in the mix you won't clip. Just to be sure, mix two tracks and make sure you're not clipping in the red in audacity. then pres record.

Job done.

I hope that cable is a 3.5mm stereo jack to 2 x RCA (L/R split) otherwise you need to go buy one.

You probably plugged the xlr cables to a mic in instead of a line and and the signal got distorted. Try plugging it to a line in or get different cables. What soundcard are you using?
