Hey what software do some of the most popular trance/techno DJ's use? And what software would be good for someone just getting into DJ'ing? Can I just download a program and use that, or do I need turntables? I'm a newbie, obviously. Can I demo something? I basically just want to create beats, and also be able to mix beats into existing tracks and stuff like that.
Thanks! |

if you want to make beats search high and low in this forum there is heaps of stuff - use the search engine that will help a great deal
but in Brief you need a half decent computer with some ram, a DAW digital audio workstation (to construct your music) perhaps FL studio, you can download their demo from their site (just to get an idea). Logic, cubase, etc are some other examples too. I would just start with that to begin with, as they offer more then enough useful resources contained therein (presets, virtual tools etc) to start with till wrap your brains around it. Also some good monitors (speakers) a sound card, and if feeling the need, and wanting to play with some keys a midi keyboard, and a life time of dedication. If you spend your money on hardware (synthesizers etc) and you change your mind you haven't gone out and spent a lot of money just work with the basics first.
There are a few ways to do it, have a little read around the place then ask some questions, as there really is tons of information here to be had.
but hope that helps |

Just beats? No basslines, chords, melodies?
As far as your question - read the forum FAQ, do some google searches for the main programs people use. Try out the demo versions. There are a lot of options, you need to find the right one for you. They're all capable of creating fantastic music. |
