sorry i did do a search but could not find anything specifically relating to AKG headphones, am looking at getting a pair and would like some opinions from you guys if possible

AKG 240DF
AKG 271 MK II

or, if you recommend an alternative, either way, any information is much appreciated as always

I have the AKG 701 - I use them and my Yamaha's HS80m's for referencing and I must say they are just awesome. They are very, very comfortable and have the most accurate sound I've heard. Many complain that they lack bass, but they don't. People are just used to having more bass in headphones. They are open, not closed, which contributes to the loss of bass (which is good for referencing)

The only downsides are you will need an amp for the headphones unless you've got a nice interface. They also take 300 hours to burn it. I left mine in another bedroom with white noise turned up for 2 weeks.

They're well worth it though. Save for them

ah ok there expensive i think from what i have seen. And, i heard they take for ever to break in

I want to invest in a pair, but i am overseas and also want them to plug directly into the back on my keyboard. So thats why i looked at the older models as i have seen some available and on other forums they speak highly of the 240DF AKG's

but thanks for the info Stephen appreciate it

Why do you want to use headphones?

hey Alanzo well im away in the states, and just picked up a keyboard. I could just get an audio cable and run into the Aux of someones stereo. But as I am with family my GF's family they wont really appreciate it.

so i did some research and thought i do need a pair so i will invest in some for use here and for when i get back home where my studio is. as I don't have any and have been pondering the idea for some time!

thanks heaps

I had the akg 240 studio's and within a couple months moved up to the 701's, and I'll never go back to anything cheaper. I know you said they are too expensive, but I say save up more money, well worth it. I just hope Wiley isn't right about the burning up after 300 hours, or maybe he means of constant white noise usuage only, but who does that?

What difference did you notice the most between the two?

Oh, 240 studio's were way too harsh in the high end. Hurt my ears. Bass and mids aren't as clear, defined and warm as 701's.
