Are Artist Albums Dead?

Seems to me there just isn't much talk about them anymore. We used to get blessed by a full piece of work, something we could pop in, sit back and just float away from the next hour. But now, it feels like we just download live sets, and keep on artist's works that way.

The last truly awesome album I heard was:
The Last Atlant - Cloudburst of Colours
(very dreamy, and dare I say trancey)

I have not yet listened to Dusty Kid's album, which I am itching to hear, just need to pick up a copy.

Anybody got some good ones out there? Recent would be good.

Caribou - Andorra (2007 :( ), was also fantastic, and he is Canadian!

they are dead because people won't buy them...when they can get them free

A different look at artist albums...

Downloading whether legally or illegally has sterilized music. When you see something as a computer file instead of a piece of artwork it loses its value instantly.

I still collect CDs and vinyl myself.

I still have artwork (digital) when downloading from Beatport or iTunes....... :)

p.s. - a really cool artist album I recently downloaded was by Anthony Collins.... forget the name of it, but it's available on Beatport. Great deep, organic sounds.

No! Never! I'm in denial.... CDs can never die :(
I still go to HMV to buy music every now and then. I'll walk into a record store and see what's new and what's recently imported, but yeah- still purchase albums. I'm not gonna lie, I download music all the time for free, but if I absolutely fall in love with a song or an artist, I'll go out and buy the whole album.... Support the art and the artist!
