Car accident advice?

Last Saturday night a friend of mine, a drunk friend of mine, crashed into my car after leaving a party. We exchanged info, I called my insurance, and right now what is going on is that he has claimed all fault but my car is old, more than 10 years. The estimate to fix it is more than the car is worth.
What should I do? If I make him pay for my car I will only get $1000. Then what? Do I go myself in the ass with the money? Cos I can't get a car for $1000, a car I would be comfortable driving. Should I keep the ed up car? Drive it around like some hillbilly with the back bumper all sticking out and falling.
Is there any way I can sue this mother****** so he can buy me another car for what I paid for this one he hit?

| If he's your friend, why would you want to sue him? I obviously don't know all the details but if it were my friend and this happened, I would totally skip the insurance business if he was willing to pay for the repairs himself out of pocket if the car isn't totaled. |

The problem is that the car is totaled. There is frame and body damage. He was never going to be able to afford the cost to repair, which is around $5000. He has no job right now. He is a new friend, an , so I don't mind being a dick about this.
I hate how one night I'm having fun, going home, then I get hit, lose my car, my pride, and all I get is this lousy t-shirt with $1000 taped to it and a note that says "You got ed, ." |

weird that it can be repaired for $1000 but it's considered totaled... it must really be a piece of . lol. Dude if you can't afford a new car, just have it fixed for the $1000 and get back into it. It's too late to prove he was drunk anyway, so forget the lawsuit... which would cost you more than $1000 anyway. |

Where did you get that the cost of repair is $1000? That's how much the car is worth in the kbb for trade-in. I think I did that part wrong, though. The repair cost is $5000+. I barely paid $4000 for it when I bought it used.
And I checked again the price on kbb. This time I put it as Suggested Retail Value, and it told me $4500. That is way better. Somehow I need to see how I can get that much. |
