ok heres the deal...
I started out using the demo of FL ages ago until I got really good, I went out to buy the full version from HTFR at least twice but they were out of stock:(...anyway since then I just couldn't be bothered with it anymore, now I really wanna start up again. I would love to finish my own piece of work. Anyway now I realise that I wanna produce something of the best of my ability, I don't wan't ppl to say 'oh...he's done that on fruityloops' I've got a demo copy of reason which I've installed and I need to get round the basics, Basically I need to know how to create melodies. I can get the whiry noise of the synthisizer but i don't know how to chop it up and place it in the sequencer. Any help appreciated... |

First of all, you buy fruity off of fruityloops.com, don't buy the boxed version... or else you don't get free upgrades! And if you are good (like you say you are) no one will be able to tell what you made your song in... if it has "that fruity sound" it means you aren't a good producer.
And reason is even easier to use (on a basic level) than fruity... you honestly can't figure out how put notes down in the sequencer? |

Hey michael I think fruity does def give a certain sound i.e. muffled and lacking in bass/hi. A wicked kick ive got sounded so in fruityloops i closed it down and ive ener used it again. Poor sound management.
And i found it hard to work out how to get a new track up on reason at first. The seq capabilities on reason are not too user friendly at all.
Im doing this from my head but:
You have to select the instrument you want to use on the seq panel e.g. redrum then look at the row of buttons along the top, you should see one with a keyboard icon. Click on this and it should bring up the seq row. |

I don't really agree... listen to Club Zero's song Tribal, it's in the promotion forum. That has an INCREDIBLE bass line.
And fruity definately sounds better than reason... reason uses some sorta thing to improve speed, but reduces sound quality... it's not even sample accurate. |
