New To Ottawa - Could use advice!

| Greetings everyone. Moving to Ottawa at the end of September. Is there anything in town for TAs? Yeah, Montreal is close, but it's nice to stay in town some weekends. Any advice is appreciated. |

okok joe(juarez) runs a night at lotus lounge on bank thats mainly house, there are a few clubs that are alright that play a mix of house/elect/tech but they're pretty much bar-star clubs i dont know what ur into but theres NV ultra club/foundation both have tons of chicks, if u like top40 from probably best to worst there is tao (also plays house) (changing its name to lounge), lago (dows lake), mansion (used to by heaven owned by marty villeneuve) and tila tequila(young crowd brutal place), tao/mansion/tila is owned by the same guy(abis) .. lago plays house on fridays..
but most of the house you'll find at nv (lots of girls tho) / tao is a lot of cheese .. foundation is okay .. lago is ok
shrug i spend my summer weekends going to piknic in mtl lol
edit; of theres an afterhrs BPM in hull my buddy dan lift drops some pretty good tribal but either than that phil the guy who runs it drops alot of electro .. i haven't been i stay away from afterhours/gatineau chicks lol |

I've been running a monthly electronic event that's featured a lot of great names so far, started in June.
So far we've had June 30 - MSTRKRFT, Aug 7 - DJ Dan & Steve Porter.
This Friday we've got Markus Schulz AND Sander Van Doorn, so your timing isn't the greatest ;)
So for those of you in MTL who had these guys there on separate night, don't say Ottawa doesn't know how to party :P

Before hitting Atomic (Ottawa's version of Stereo a few yrs back - now RIP) our tradition was to hit Mercury Lounge, in the market. Always great vibe, with people bringing their tam tam's. Had lots of good times there. |

Nacarter, just to clarify a few things:
Lotus has house nights on Wed ,great house music IMO.
There are a few nightclubs in the city (NV as an example) that play house music but it`s predominatly commerical, clubby and electro vocal house... they all lack in the underground.
Despite this they are nice fun clubs to party at ... lots of girls and alchohal.
Recently LAGO is now having some crazy talent performing there , Markus Shultz and Sander Van Doorn were there like last Friday night... They also had Steve Porter and DJ Dan not too long ago.
Another new EDM promotion is 613 Sessions , it showcases the local Ottawa talent on Thursday nights.
Finally , there is only one afterhours in Ottawa right now and that`s BPM ( http://www.bpmmusik.com ). Very underground and the ONLY club in the city where you hear house music every weekend the way it was meant to be.
over 12000 watts sound system , way more powerful then it should be.
Yes BPM plays electro house from time to time ( depends on who is scheduled that night ) but this covers only 25% of all the music played there every month.
BPM is a house and techno club... and Phil doesn`t play electro at all. He is a producer now and his latest work that I heard live was very tech house... similar to a Steve Lawler type sound.
For the record: I play some tribal but mainly progressive house with tribal and tech house elements and some minimal tech.
