| Solid fare, pretty nice, though definitely wouldn't say this is Lee's best IMO. I'll reserve that honour for "Trim" - heard this at 5 in the morning at the Weekend terrace in Berlin, really made me get and notice, sick, sick track. |

No actually, I'm right.
Filler, when describing tracks, is meant to describe in between stuff, tunes that are not particularly memorable or striking, tunes that bridge gaps, dj tools, good beats with not much else going on.
This is not filler. |

and what part of this track is memorable or makes it stand out? Does it groove nicely, yes. Is it memorable, absolutely not. Its filler. |

You're a good guy, but imma have to disagree with you, the breakdown itself is not what we can call filler. Its called a break, a change in energy, a rest for the dancefloor, a dynamics shift. Filler really cant be used to describe a breakdown, maybe an entire track.
I'm assuming you're calling the entire track filler. I dont know if I would call this particularly filler, i'd call it set developer. You have to understand, not every producer wants to make this super grand artistictly visioned track that should be carefully placed into a mix, sometimes they want to make tracks that will fit a DJs set without ruining the flow of the set, and this is exactly an example of that, you can throw this is anywhere to build things with or bring things back down after a peak. |

Well I have said it in the past a few times. The idea is one of the things i've been trying to get accross here for a while now, because some here seem to have the wild expectation that all Producers make music from a purely artistic intention. In reality many dance music producers also make music that can have practical use that highly artistic music might not achieve. Of course, the goal is to make music that is both artistic and have high practical use in a set, but sometimes it makes sense to make music that is purely useful in a set, or music that will dent the dancefloor. And Producers who are also DJs seem to have this reasonable philosophy. |
