hey guys i think some of you will know this.
hopefully.

i have a imac g5 the 2nd latest version. it only has one firewire port. currently its used by my presonus firebox.

CAN i somehow split this into two firewire ports so i can attach another harddrive to the computer??

will this have a detramental effect on the firebox?

Some devices will allow you to daisy chain them with firewire, but its probably not a good idea to do it with your audio interface. Why not get a USB harddrive?

Honestly, i would leave the firewire port dedicated to the audio interface, and do your best to troubleshoot the USB hard disk. There really should be no reason why the USB hard disk shouldn't work. If you cant get it to show up in Finder, make sure that the USB port you have it plugged into is powered, and if possible use an external power supply for the hard disk.

its good.

i have had no problems with it. ive got my xstation hooked in through the bad (out of the synth to ins on the fireB)

the sound is clear as . (although my monitors prob help lol)

to be honest tho it was my first. so your usually always connected with your first on a 'different' level :p

so i dont have much experiance with other sound cards.

i can say its a hell of a lot better than the onbaord apple soundcard..

yea just moved to the mac and logic in the last few months and the onboard soundcard is to be fair. dont wanna spend over the odds on a soundcard as im going back to uni so as expected funds are low :D

id go firebox.

its not that expensive and its real easy to use/hook up and all that.

on the firebox...it's been quite good for me for the past 4 years, but for 2 of the 4 it's had a really bad issue with changing volume...I made a thread about it in the production studio forum, so if you search it, you'll find some discussion on it. DJ RANN has some ideas on it/alternatives
