Hard Kandy presents 10 year Anniversary
October 30th 2009

Billboardthevenue

It was the end of a millennium. People were looking at the future with hope and trepidation, wondering what was to come. The Melbourne club and party scene was breathing a collective yawn as party after party, club night after club night was droning endless minimal progressive tech-house twaddle.
But beneath the surface, a movement had begun....
At its core was a radical idea - that people LIKE TO HAVE FUN WHEN THEY GO OUT!! That's right, they like to laugh and dance and jump up and down in ecstatic joy and happiness! They wanted to feel music, not just appreciate it for its "structural complexities"
So it wasn't surprising that when Hard Kandy opened and started playing happy, silly, cheeky, aggressive and, most importantly, ecstatic music that people went absolutely bonkers for it!
It's been a wild ten-year ride since then. So many nights, so many mornings-after, so many friends made & lost, so many kickdrums & basslines, so many spilt drinks and lost wallets. People have often said that inside Hard Kandy, time stands still, but here we are, ten years later!
We've seen whole generations of clubbers pass through our doors, and we've been the soundtrack to thousands of clubbers' passage into (semi) adulthood!
To everyone that has experienced Hard Kandy over the years, come party with us for what is going to be a night to remember……Our 10th Birthday!

Theme: Pink & Blue

The Boys have taken a little time out as of late and have spent the last 6 months building a new custom built solid state professional recording studio, the premise for a new wave in their production career, to head this venture is the launch of their anticipated record label “Audio Surgery Records” which will showcase their new cutting edge sound, with the first release “Tranceplant” a monster of a track with Dutch Master on the remix.

Kidd Kaos

2008 has spawned a new hero in Hard Dance. This new Kidd on the block has stunned both the industry and dancefloor's alike, dominating the UK and beyond with his month by month onslaught of Kaos. Playing some of the most reputable and renowned gigs and festivals in the UK alongside tours of Canada and Ireland, the Kaos Factory has been relentless throughout 2008. Plucked from obscurity by none other than Alex Kidd, the last year has seen their award winning partnership strengthen as "mentor and protégé" takes on a whole new definition. The talents of this rising star shine through his blow by blow productions that have astonished and gained the support from the industry's biggest players including Yoji, Kutski and A*S*Y*S. And it's only just begun!... Make way for Hard Dance Awards Best New Face - Kidd Kaos. The much coveted Hard Dance Awards has now become the stuff of legend and with it brings much hype in uncovering our superstars of the future. Kidd Kaos now ranks amongst the hard dance elite, taking out Best Newcomer award for 2008-2009. To honor the Best Newcomer gong, Kaos will be knighted with a privilege that only a true Hard Dance Prince is worthy - the infamous Radio One Essential Mix. We are excited as you are to have Kaos down under for Hard Kandy.

Charlotte Birch

Charlotte Birch burst onto the scene back in 1996 after giving up a 10 year career in lingerie modelling to try out DJing. Within only a matter of months she became resident for Moneypenny’s and Decadence, playing funky house and club classics. In 1999 she radically changed her music style to hard dance and was snapped up as resident by the legendary Sundissential. She is now one of the top female DJ’s in the UK. This has led to residencies at Slinky, Frisky, Roar and Dropzone and is a regular quest at most clubs in the UK including: Godskitchen, Polysexual, Frantic, Lashed, Hotdog and Virus.

Not content with her home shores Charlotte’s international status has now being recognised worldwide with no less that 7 visits to America including: Seattle, LA, San Francisco and Denver. She has toured Australia 4 times spanning over Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne and also played in New Zealand. Nearer to home Charlotte has been dominating the Dutch masses playing for hugely successful HQ parties, 4 Elements, Melkweg and one of the many highlights of her career playing to over 60,000 people at the Rotterdam street parade. What a great addition to the 10th birthday!
