The Most Important Techno Record ... in history of EDM

Feeling nostalgic, decided to share this - since a lot of people are talking about history of eletronic music. Belleville Three (godfathers of techno and detroit house) were compiling some tracks for a trip to Europe, to introduce techno to Europe. Neil Rushton (later to become famous), asked the guys what the name of the music is. Juan Atkins gave it a name ... "Techno". So a seminal compilation was born - "Techno - The New Dance Sound Of Detroit". The FIRST techno music compilation on CD, and it swept through Europe faster than the bubonic plague. And the rest is history.

Truly, it is the most important release in dance music history, to techno fans like me, because it gave birth to all the latter style of European electronic music starting with techno, inspired a new generation.

I cherish the fact that I have my own original copy (CD format - there's also vinyl option), and is usually goes for a serious dollar amount, even though the release is abundant.

I thought you guys would like to you. In memory of this, I am gonna make an oldskool detroit techno mix later on ... for DJ Promotion. For all you devout fans of detroit sound.

Discogs has some enlightening reviews. Booklet is also very interesting.

I'll watch for your set, too, Phil. I had to kind of chuckle reading in the discog comments about the guy who found the album for .25 American dollars (£0.14) at a used clothing store. So I looked for and found an mp3 version of the album. Good stuff. Definitely feels like jazz with a sci-fi twist.

Nice, I've been looking for a classic detroit mix for the IPOD.

I'll give ya a couple, for now. Most of them are not on Youtube. Check out other Derrick May productions - he uses a lot of very nice pads. "Kao-Tic Harmony" track has nice pads.
