Im relatively new to psy trance, listened to a bit of solar fields (earthshine) and loved it. Alot of my friends like schpongle alot (are they considered psy trance even? where is the thumping bass line?)
What are some exceptional psy trance producers and releases? |

First you have to tell me what type of psytrance? From what you mentioned it seems like you enjoy psychill/ambient selections, but there are plenty more: progressive psytrance, full-on psytrance, and then there are more psychedelic styles with warping and stuff. That all tends to be on the darker side.
If you like progressive, try:
Liquid Soul
Ace Ventura
Vibrasphere
FREq
Flowjob
Suntree
Zen Mechanics
If you like full-on, click on my set archive and look around, there is plenty there! Just click on my yellow sig and listen to that and see if you like it... :p
If you like psychill, Magadansky would be the guy to ask about that. |

I like Ambient music alot, but I also like progressive trance, not sure about progressive psy trance but I will check it out! Thanks.
Any ambient/atmospheric recomendations? I <3 atmospheric drum and bass |

If you want psychedelic ambient, and all its variants, check out these labels.
Cosmic leaf, ajana records, six degrees, interchill, ultimae, chillcode, aleph zero, tempest, unicorn, Geomagnetic, soundmute, Dakini
If you want good straight up psy-trance zip gave you a lot of good stuff. They are a little more cheesy but you can't go wrong with 1200 micrograms either. |

:p
My older stuff was relatively cheesy, but Frequency Surge isn't cheesy at all (as far as supersaw melodies, vocals, and happiness is concerned). My next mix won't have any cheese! :) |

, I'm retarded :(
I thought their debut album was pretty damn good, all their tracks were drug names :p they had good remixes and other tracks too... what works of theirs are cheesy? I don't think they do pop full-on or anything with vocals. |

| Well some more psy-trance purists don't like the 80's butt rock feel. |

Shpongle are most definitely psy trance (or psy ambient or psy dub, or all 3 depending on who you talk to). Just because it doesn't have a full on bassline doesn't mean it isn't psy.

:whip:
In terms of stuff like Shpongle: Check out OTT-Blumenkraft, Celtic cross-Hicksville, The Infinity Project-Mystical Experiences and The mystery of the yeti (self titled).
1200 mics first album is quite unique and wins a lot for that, and their second album is more ambientey but it's merely ok, wouldn't say great, worth checking out but not as good as some of the other stuff. |

I thought heroes and time machine were the best albums imo. Infinity project used to do more Goa didnt they? |

The infinity project have only done goa (and downbeat/ambient) stuff. Not really psy influenced at all even with later stuff.
Haven't heard heroes actually. I dunno, haven't really listened to 1200 mics in ages, probably should actually. |
