Man, I watched that the other night on acid... the colors and animation style was pretty trippy, but I found myself just not getting it. I was really disappointed by the plot and the ending, it felt a little cliche and pointless. |

| Acid isn't really meant for movies. |

Says who? Scanners, Speed Racer, and Natural Born Killers were all great movies to watch while on acid. |

That's as may be, but honestly, there are so many better things to be doing on acid. I'd get bored watching a movie. |

It's not that boring after listening to a bunch of music... We turned to movies after listening to both of my new mixes. What would you do while on acid, paint? Build a birdhouse? Jumping jacks? |

| Was kind of a dumb comment on my behalf anyways, what are drugs "meant for" anyways? But I am with Sushi - sounds pretty boring. I'd rather take a walk than try to involve myself in some pastel melodrama with strong social and political overtones. Cliche though? Come on, I don't think any other movie has really taken as serious an approach to the future of the war on drugs as well as the personal impact it has on agents and users alike. It wasn't the best movie ever made or something, but I felt it was a grossly overlooked and important piece that was quite faithful to Dick's work. But you don't have to like it or anything. :p |

Different things. Music, movies, nature, discussion, etc.

I didn't mean that the whole MOVIE was cliche, I just thought the ending was cliche... one of those "now he's just like everyone else" kind of things. I thought it was a GOOD movie, I just didn't understand the whole thing, really. |

I generally feel the need (or the want?) to be active while tripping. We'd walk places, or catch a bus/cab into the city and wander around in there. We climbed trees, or climbed onto the roof of the house, or just cruised around in the back yard looking at the stars. Bare feet on the grass feels awesome.
I've tried writing and drawing on acid, but I tend to get impatient and want to do something else instead, and the same goes with computer games too. Never bothered watching a movie because of that. |

"Substance D" makes a lot more sense if you've tripped on diphenhydramine before.
And it took me a few views to get exactly what happens in A Scanner Darkly, but once you get it, you realize the movie has a very meticulously constructed plot. There's only like 4 characters, despite the fact that it seems like there's twice that, for example. :p |
