Hey,
I am starting to see endorsements and quotes from djs on some newer sample library descriptions. You know, big name djs bigging up a sample library etc.
Example, look at the description
HERE
You have quotes from laidback luke and johnny fiasco. I would love to get into designing sample cds myselfand was wondering if anyone knew the best way to approach djs to get quotes like in the example?
Obviously they would have to like the sounds or they wouldn't associate their name with it. But i assume top djs recieve tons and tons of requests like this? anyone have any ideas? |

well the first thing would be to understand the difference between producers and djs
next, make samples and send them to big name djs. if its good you'll get feedback, and tada.
much easier said than done though. you're likely going to need some good equipment, knowledge of how to build a sample pack, along with strong distribution and promotion channels. |

thankyou for the reply.
i have been experimenting with building a sample pack for a while. Its actually going ok :)
Its the distribution channels im lacking! Any ideas on where to start? Would it be best to submit the sample library to a well known sample company and have them release it under their name? sort of like a release on a record label? |

As Lolo said, contact loopmasters.com - also check out producerloops.com and resonantvibes.com etc. a label is not a neccesity for getting a sample pack out, but it's harder without one and especially so if nobody has a clue who you are.
Your best bet would be to start a company/label of your own and try to build a reputation with these distributors. If you're provided gigabyte sample packs of high quality you can't be denied, but that is so much more difficult said than done. |

I will wait until i have fully completed the sample pack and when i am 100% happy i will try sending it to a few distributers! thanks again. |

As said above, try sending your work out to sample distributors.
As far as getting quotes from big producers and DJs. You would have to have an exceptional pack. Top names would not put their name on something that they are not happy with. It could ruin their name if they are endorsing something that sounds like crap! |

thanks for everyones help on this. I contacted a few distributers and they were infact very helpful! they said to send over a finished or nearly finished library and they will consider it for release.
If it doesnt make their expectations i will release it here among other places for free!
thanks again |
