I just get heated about it because my bf is tentative about period sex and I don't understand why.
He doesn't care about all kinds of *disgusting* things, but this is too taboo for him. Once, during 69, I farted in his face and he didn't even stop, he just kept going. He will eat ass and take gum from my mouth into his. Once I sneezed and got snot all over him and he just wiped it off and laughed. So ya, he's a nasty bitch... ergo, I just don't get this.
I think he watches too many horror movies and real "blood" makes him squeamish

I can't speak for the guy, but as a guy who also doesn't like period sex, I'll say that looking down and seeing a bloody dick doesn't do a whole lot to wratchet up the passion.
