SILKSF010 "MIKE EFEX :: Mohito" out now @ Beatport!
For it's definitive tenth release, Silk Sofa has called upon one of it's most esteemed and versatile veterans, Mike EFEX (Armada, Perfecto, Neuroscience) for a new downtempo EP. His Mohito Original Mix begins with a chilled, submerged-in-the-sea vibe, soon joined by hypnotic female (stutter) vox, worthy of the mythological Sirens. Gentle breaks and a light side piano melody further guide the track along, though at a relaxed, "mojito-sipping" pace. Hungarian producer Styler Steel, who last appeared on Silk Sofa's Sampler 1 with "Deep Blue Sky", provides a housier kick, while still retaining the textural elements of the original. Mike EFEX's second original track, "Too Dimensional," is classic drum 'n bass, drawing from such obvious inspirations as LTJ Bukem. Although the atmospheric touches are similar to the first track on the package, "Too Dimensional" is a much jazzier number, including a repeating saxophone riff. Styler Steel returns again to provide his signature downtempo house facelift to the original - organ stabs and drifting pads provide further atmosphere, while the saxophone is given solo treatment in the break.

Hah I saw Mike Efex and SILKSF in the title and I went :wtf:
Interesting switch of sound for Mike on this one.
I like the original Mohito and the Steel mix of Too Dimensional is pretty nice as well. |

Yes, he went really original genre here. But nevertheless, it's something really beautiful.. at least, for Silk. ;D |

Appreciate the feedback guys n gals, actually this project of mine I never planned on getting signed but the label heard it and wanted to so what could I say haha. This was just something on the side I was playing aroung with tryin to go the drum n bass and breaks realm just to test it out but nothing permanent for sure lol.
