DVJ's have been around for a while. Hip Hop DJ's don't like them at all. They prefer Serato Video SL. Every hip hop DJ I know that mixes videos, uses Serato Video SL. It just makes sense. DVJ's are a step back.

i know jesse, Sander K used them years ago at a couple new years gigs at avalon... my point was though that No One Else has used them... or can maybe afford them at their introductory price.

and i do agree, DVJ's are a step back... frankly... i don't care for the DVJ at all. It's all about the music... i think we can leave the visuals to someone else like a graphic design artist who actually has an artistic talent or whatnot...

Yeah very pricey. When they first came out they were $3,500 for the DVJ-X1. The DVJ1000 now runs around $2200. Still pricey, but not worth it. They have some lag time, plus you still need a video mixer.

I have a paid of the DVJ-X1 but only because the club replaced them with CDJ1000's. I know eventually I have to give them back, but I had them for a year already.

Also, video mixing is no joke. There's a lot of work involved, specially lots of video editing. Trust me, I do video mixing every weekend.

My Point Exactly!... i've edited video for years... i even made a 7 minute music video for matt cerf and jaren... that took me DAYS to make...

Is an AUDIO dj really gonna make a visual worth producing on the fly...

the answer is no.

DVJ... Two thumbs wayyyy down.

You'll be surprised. In the Hip Hop/Mashup/Top 40 World, more and more DJ's are learning to edit. Not only that, but now there's video services that offer nothing but video mixes to the mashups, and even extended, acapellas, and DJ tools to the most current songs. That's making video mixing vary affordable now. Not only that, but if you spin videos, you can make some good money too!

the new player is not the DVJ bull at all

for more info check out djsounds.com

DJs have confirmed that it has:

a touch screen
uses flashdrive (although unclear if it has a CD drive as well, most likely not)
comes with it's own software to organize sets
is announced this thursday and released a month from this thursday

Armin has used DVDJs for awhile. It's always for vocal tracks...with the lyrics up on the screen.

Markus Schulz has also started to put them into his gigs.
im pretty sure Sander K was the first to use them, but yea...if u look in the booth for alot of these DJ's, there is 1 DVDJ in the booth

looks like more cash is needed to afford the new player...

im sticking to my trusty 2 1200 and a mixer. i love my vinyl records too much :D

a little hint from Richard Vission, it sounds like he picked it up today from Pioneer and already had some fun with it:

" Richard Vission - the info will be out Friday on the new CDJ's...hint...there going to eliminate CDs and I can't see anyone using laptops after this:)"

jajajajaja... what the hell is this thing?

I imagine it's a new CDJ that just has a USB port for external devices. It's like how DVD players have USB slots these days for external devices. But wait...don't they already do that?

And whether it's on a USB drive or on a CD, I imagine the touch screen just takes you through the directories by default but if you use their software I bet you it stores info from the tracks bpm, key, etc etc...so DJs can use it to sort tracks so harmonic mixing is easier. That;s something I'd love!

Armin basically said you could be playing CDs and then someone can bring you a USB drive with a track they just finished even if it's in the middle of his set....

If it doesn't play CDs, then that's retarded. It will just be a specialty CDJ in clubs that the big DJs can request.
