Having made a debut on ALiVE back in May with his remix of Tom Budden’s Tree Dance track, Jim Rivers (Global Underground, Mouseville, Bedrock) has chosen ALiVE Recordings to launch his brand new production pseudonym, Seulo. Pronounced So-Low, this new project will be reserved singularly for Jim’s deeper, more diverse, underground work.
Lead track Never Again is a hard-hitting tech throbber. Built on rock solid foundations of a shifting mechanical groove, low humming bass and punchy beats, the track is spiced with tribal war-chants and looped jittery horns that add a lively energy to contrast with the dark force of the groove.
Overcast treads a deeper path, bringing together elements as disparate as afro-house and Detroit techno in an impressively natural and very current sounding fusion of classic electronic ingredients. The result is an understated but snappy percussive track with plenty of bottom-end wiggle.
