Best Field Recorder?

Hi,

I'm looking for advice on an audio recorder that is small, compact, and around the 200$ mark to record R,L via 1/8 from the mixers master output channel. Recommendations?

Does anyone know anything about the IKEY G3 DIGITAL RECORDER?

What are you thoughts on the H2 Zoom?

And are there any other companies that fabricate good quality recorders?

Thanks!

I have the ikey. It's ok - does the job. I've never used a more expensive one, so I can't really say much.

Zoom H2 is great for the price, I've used mine for over a year and it just works.

Much nicer to use then the iKey product.

The Edirol unit is a bit nicer still, but more expensive.

i still use my old minidisc

sure it sucks to have to record it back in realtime to my computer but it's never failed me

That's fine, but I'd never suggest anyone buy one of those now :)

Unless you find one in the trash.

It is, I hate that thing LOL

I've recorded tons of stuff with my H2 and it's been great.

If you want a sample, here's a club set I did a few weeks ago (it's long...). Zoom H2 connected right up to the clubs Rane MP2016:

Aren't the h1xx series of the irivers hard to find nowadays? Back on topic, I use a Zoom H2 recorder as well. Really nice to have around and does the job well.
