My advisor and I have been talking about a possible doctorate in the American West Coast. We've got contacts in the University or Oregon, and she also mentioned the UC Santa Barbara as an interesting place to pursue this degree.
I'd like to know what these universities are like, and if there are any TA's studying in these universities. If things get more serious, I'll probably just go ahead and bug the locals, but I thought I'd turn to the CORe first. It's just a possibility anyway. |

You mean West Coast, right?
UCSB is where Deadmau5 pornstar girlfriend attends. Don't know much else about it beyond that. |

University OF Oregon?
that, come up one more state and go to the University of Washington. I am sure you'd love it up here. Look at University of Puget Sound as well, but that school is ing EXPENSIVE. |

Nou, are you saying that because this university is better or just because you're proud of your state? :p
I'm going to check it out, though... I don't think I've ever read anything by a professor of this institution :(

UW is regarded as one of the better State schools in the country, they are a pretty prominent research school too.
There is some bias there though, my whole dads side of the family is alums and my grandfather taught there for 30 years and helped found the foreign language department. :wtf: |

Really? That's interesting. Anyway, I need to know whether there's anyone in the linguistics department doing research in linguistic typology. I know there are lots of people in Oregon, Santa Barbara, and Berkeley working on this area... and that Berkeley is pretty damn much a no-no. |
