well, considering we live in the most comfortable era in the history of the human race, we really shouldn't be complaining.. it's a nice poem and all.. and it's mostly true... but instead of crying about the world you should be trying to actively make a change...
our generation is probably the most powerful in history.... or has the potential to be... but most of us are just too caught up in irrelevant bull and aren't at the right level of social conciousness... i don't see how this poem makes a difference... most people who can make a difference are well aware of the problems this poem outlines... this is just a way to get ignorant people to see it, not that they can do anything about it anyway... |
well put. I totally agree with Damo. A poem's a nice way to express yourself, but it won't change anything. |

Well there is definately no shortage of ppl not satisfied with humanity, but I really liked the poetic value in this one...
Thumbs up.
And my two cents,
Capitalism is derived from our primal instincts, but there's good hope that in just a few millions of years our evolution will be able to reach the technology level... So be optimistic and don't try to change anybody but urself. |

I've seen this before (in an email as well).
I don't think the author is 'crying' about anything.
It's a self-check; what are you doing today that will make a difference?
It's hard sometimes in a society that's so me, me, me, to consciencously do something nice and different for someone else and actually have the other person realize that you are!
Sometimes you get wierd stares of disbelief during the action but that's what I love!
I once heard a speaker say that most people have to 'see to believe' but that is totally, totally wrong.
You have to believe before you'll ever see...
Have faith in yourself.
What would you do if you knew absolutely you would not fail??
DO IT! :) |

werd Damo.
I hate poems and stories like that because rather than actually giving you worth while things to think about, it's just the same old sap that is constantly being passed along in magazine articles, books, and TV shows that "touches" so many people.
bleh.
if you actually evaluate the "poem" it's pretty stupid. the next level up to these stories are those "christian stories" which are much worse because they tell blatant lies and other propaganda and give a much greater false sense of security than these sociological poems.
Hopefully there comes a time in everyone's life that they will realise the truth, that in our society and religion, we are creating another reality, another world for ourselves that is only important to us and us alone. If you want to be wrapped up in them, you can, but it is much easier to progress if one is not.
Damo, people will never discover, learn and evolve at the rate they are capable of because of this, but does it matter? No not really. It is a benefit to us that is out of our reach, no big deal.
That's why i read these poems and "hit delete" as the chain letter suggests.

Palivar is right, realist is a much better term that cynic. A cynic would say, "Life is bull, we are worthless, let's kill ourselves." A realist....states....what is....um....real...ok?

once again, if you holding onto the belief that things have an extra meaning or worth to them is Hope, then no, it is NOT hard to find these days, and I think that most of the world believes in a Heaven, then yes most people are optimistic. |

i look at it more in a way that they hold others back with their ignorance... that's the real injustice in the world... my life span is so short because of the world i'm born into... and there's no real way to change it anytime soon...
but like i said, if you look at us compared to past generations...we really shouldn't be complaining... |
