soundcloud
mainly the swoops, is it because more than half of the track is mono and the pad in the BG is stereo panned from l-r? or is it one of the binaural instruments? |

cool track, Im not familiar with any kind of mastering because i mix my final output but i think its your pads, i had a waveform in soundcloud where i guess i was kind of getting the same effects, its the pads in mine i think.
its not problematic is it? ive seen in it a dnox beckers track i believe |

it isn't, it's the best sounding track i've made i've just never seen it before |

| didn't listen but it *looks* like compression with a very high attack and release time but it would have to be super long times. as the other posted said, could be a pad. they have a lot of dynamics especially if they're morphing. if its a progressive track, are you automating your layers/instrument additions up and down in sync? i'd listen but i've put up the headphones for the evening |

These are called dynamic peaks.
It's simply a track that offers a big difference between the loudest element that hits and the average amplitude (and thus loudness) of the track.
In today's EDM music the amplitude is closer to the maximum because its compressed and heavily limited.
The reason why you have never seen anything similar is the simple fact that nowadays everything is squashed to make it louder making the waveform looking squarish. Normal rhythmical music that's not squashed (e.g. Jazz) normally looks like this |

| Looks like the effect from the pan. |

its the zoom level.
steady tempo music may have very slight variation in the timing of the beats and as you pull back on the waveform, you get a pattern interference that can produce waves like that |
