If I make a track on Ableton Live 7 on one computer, and want to continue working on it on a different computer, do I have to manually transfer copies of all the samples onto the 2nd computer, or will all the samples get "embedded" into the live file.
Cheers. |

File >>> Collect All And Save
That will give you a nice little package that you can load into another Ableton Live. |

It wouldn't. Did it give you the option to search for them though ? |

yeah but that wasnt the point really. in reason u can "self contain" the project file so that all the wavs are in the file.
would be awesome if ableton could do that too. or logic for that sakes. |

| Yeah I get what you mean now. I moved a Logic folder the other day and I had to manually search for all the Ultrabeat samples. Would be good if the program looked inside the project folder. |

Sorry. That sharing feature is exclusive to Live 8.

I used to share files with Live 7 between my work and my home computer. First, I would make my project file. It will make some folders for you. I would than save all the samples inside my project folder. When I was done with it, I would make it into a zip file and copy it into my phone.
When I got home, I would get the ZIP from my phone, uncompress it and keep working on it.
In theory, I could work off an external. But in this case I was using my phone as an external, so it wasn't convenient. |

| it could be cause you're copying to different drive letters, but ableton since 4.0 has file -> manage files, go to manage project and create a live pack. take the live pack over, install it on that machine and you won't have to worry about samples with the wrong path names |
