The music def had a techy side to it. Lots of bass. It def was a tad too crowded. Lots of ladies, more guys (+ many douchbags that come with the venue + popular DJ)
They usually don't let guys without girls in on their weekend nights but Monday night they let everyone in. I also noticed more promoters than normal pushing the night. |

Seeing that picture makes me wonder... Where's Waldo?
The music was actually quite good. Much more underground than I was expecting from Sharam. I liked how he interspersed pieces of his album in the middle of those dark house beats, it gave the night a clear dentifiable theme (his new album) and really pushed the boundaries of a normal DJ set.
Oh yea, and him fighting with the lighting guy or girl over the mic was hilarious. |

| The MNS I know seems to be gone. I never would have been able to make to the patio through that crowd. Looks like a bit of a clusterf*ck with nowhere to escape. |

i'd count last monday more like a 'special event' over there... granted MNS now draws easily 2-3x (if not more) as many people as before and more hollywood types being at Playhouse... I went on the Trent Cantrelle nite a few weeks back and it was nicely crowded but nothing like that. and you still see all the normal industry people there that came out at Nacional...
btw, there was an upstairs level that they opened up and it had plenty of room (usually its not open for MNS). |

| The upstairs would help. I was there for the Steve Porter night. Ok crowd, that venue just doesn't have the same MNS feel. Just not as intimate. It's cool though. I'm happy Freddy had a spot to move to without skipping a beat, and the move is good for overall business. I don't know if you get to book DJs Sharam at Nactional. |

i agree with Jeremy. its definitely different. I am rarely inside at all. its hard to communicate with people other then in the smoking patio outside, which sucks cuz i don't smoke anymore.
However, this is Freddy's chance to really do something big. The names that he's pulling are coming out of the woodworks right now and he's pretty much riding that wave. Hopefully it rides long enough for him to build up an even better rep and get the attention of newbies to MNS.
Best thing about it is the restaurant next door. i usually go there early and get a deep fried twinkie. Ahhh Shiet!!! :) |

it's tech house. seems like that synth part is a sample playing on another deck.
