Irrelevant. Schnauss should have got a writing credit and royalties for every copy of the album sold, simply because his music was sampled.
Hopefully he'll earn a tidy million from this which will sort him out financially for life, and he'll be free to make the music he wants to with no pressure to sell records.

I am well aware how the business works. In EDM nobody really bothers with lawsuits as there's really not that much money in it - you'd probably end up losing money via legal fees even if you win.
But whenever these things go to court the person who has been ripped off wins almost every time.
