Classical Style Guitar & Techniques

Greetings gentlemen

I realize that this topic has been covered previously. Of course, finding the right guitar tone & texture can still be a challenge. I was wondering if anyone here has come across any guitar plugins that sound particularly 'real' - especially when it comes to the hammer-on and slide (portamento) techniques. Previous recommendations have been RealGuitar and AAS String Studio.

Some artists who have mastered these techniques are:

Signum - Riddles in the Sand - listen to 1.20-1.27 - found something on the Korg VSC
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6jAcOO40qJ0

Orjan Nilsen - La Guitarra listen to 3.40-...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Omsl4JILlAs

I have looked in Sculpture but can't seem to find any preset that is close enough (Nylon Fingered Pluck is probably the closest).

It is almost 99% probable that the tools required are already there in sculpture for a nice and prominent hammeron/slide sound. My failure to achieve such effects is, IMO, based upon a lack of understanding about optimal methods of processing.

Any kind person is therefore more than welcome to reflect upon their guitar plugin experience (particularly with regard to slide & hammeron techniques) here. Alternatively, one might point those curious to learn and create in the right direction if this had already been comprehensively covered by Trance Addict.

Thank you

why don't you just put an ad on craigslist for a studio guitar player for $25.00. then you can be very authentic. are you saying this youtube clip that you know it was a plug or are you asking?

Agreed. Although I cannot be certain, I'd be willing to bet that both of these tracks are using either a real guitar, or sampled from a track with a real guitar. Guitar (and other plucked instruments) is one of those instruments that can be hard to simulate. It might be just as easy to sample one or find a guitar player as Anthony suggested. That Orjan Nilsen track definitely sounds like it was sampled from something Spanish if it wasn't played live.

i'll play the guitar for you for a fee.

anyways i have never, ever come across any plugin that sounds even remotely like a decent guitar. nothing sounds better than the real thing imo, and vsts can't emulate simple guitar techniques such as hammer-ons, pull-offs, slides, etc with any accuracy.

honestly, i have a hard time making a real guitar sound particularly excellent, because making a guitar sound really polished and professional takes investing money into decent hardware (ie amps, effects, cables, etc). software and hardware amp emulators don't do the trick (though line6's POD and NI's guitar rig come close).

25 $ ? I'm pretty sure every studio player will tell you to go yourself.
Union fee per hour in most places is 100$ minimum.
