Hi guys, just wanted to offload my submission for the Factual remix comp and hopefully everyone's not completely sick of this track given the amount of remixes there must be floating around by now! Unfortunately it was made of fail along with apparently several hundred other entries (who knew there'd be that many!), with the exception of Owsey's effort of course - 3rd place, WELL DONE guy!! :D
Anyway here it is for download, mastering won't be perfect as I lack the tools for now but hope you enjoy - Leave a comment if something strikes you as good or bad!

Or when that runs out of steam head to my soundcloud where you can also download the 320 (under "more options"), or just listen if you wish:

nice one, sounds good to me.
watch your mix though, that clap is vague and the bass is not strong enough for me, stabilize your bass more. The song is slick though; great work and effort, nice leads. |

I really want to hear whatever tracks topped this, because I really can't imagine a better remix than this.
The low end sounds fine to me, especially later in the track. The kick could use some more punch though. It doesn't get lost in the mix, but it's still on the quiet side.
Everything else was a top-notch effort as always, nice work mate. |

You've gotta remember thats all left up to taste though :P
honestly the 2nd place winner was whatever to me, to cheesy and honestly wasnt THAT great and iddnt really add anything of their own to the track from waht i remember.
but the 1st place winner had a nice remix i just thought the vocals were way overused. |

p.s I like your remix quite a bit its a nice sounding one. Very beautiful and atmospheric.
however i think you could have left the basslines on the main root note for 32 bars instead of bringing in the variation so quickly.
What do you produce on again? I believe you said reason before? |

Great sound, nice transitions, rhythm is excellent and beautiful melody line. Good work.
I let it run three times and the only think I would work on is your bass and drums. Adding depth to it and amp a little will help tremendously.
Keep them coming, man. |

Thanks a lot! I actually started working on it the day the competition started, and also managed to finish it on the same day. I forgot all about it until about 3 minutes before the deadline (a month later) and decided to send it in, so I was pretty damn surprised when they got back to me :p
Moving on. I think it starts rather suddenly, it'd be cool if it progressed a bit more before that mid bass came in. Really cool Piano and backing Pads, although I sorta wish you used them for one of your own tracks, because something good could perhaps come out of it.
Anyway, nice job. It's cool to hear the vocals used in a different context than the original! Keep it up. |

Thanks matey, damn I actually worried this time I'd made the bass TOO strong and that it might have sounded boomy lol, where am I going wrong? I'm on Yamaha HS80 monitors, they're renowned for a true and unbiased sound :(

Thanks again guy, if only you'd been judging eh? I suspect maybe my remix might have been a little too "expected", almost same chords from the original translated into a vocal uplifter with a melody thrown over the top, yawn lol.

Many thanks! Yeah I'm on Reason. Hey i took a listen to the winner and runner up, i have to agree the winning track is nicely done but waaaay overkill on the vocals! Maybe to fresh ears who haven't heard the vocals as much as we have would appreciate it more though. The runnerup has some nice synths but is pretty cheesy indeed, and i thought MY mix was bordering on cheese lol. Don't you think its hard to imagine that Rich Solarstone would get into that? I'm just dying to hear the Owen & Dan mix!

Thanks a lot for listening as always, that low-end is my downfall everytime haha.

Many thanks, yes in hindsight I definitely rushed the start which I don't normally do, I didn't want the track to end up too long. Ah so you were one of those 180 freaks who had their remix done within the first 3 days haha! I suppose when you're inspired it writes itself pretty quickly. When do we get to hear yours?? I'm betting its streets ahead of the second placer.. |

I jsut decided to dig back into reason a week ago and found out i liked it. This time I watchedthe tutorial videos so everything makes much much more sense now and i understand how it works.
Would you be down for a collab? I definitely wanna learn it more in depth. |

The tracks that I finish in a day or two always tend to be my best. Infact, I managed to complete a track a few days ago (which is my best so far) in a matter of hours, although it's my shortest track also.
I'd have to ask the label if I'm allowed to share my remix. It's Unicorn trance, so most of you won't like it! :p |

For sure man, I'm looking to try something on the techier side -- if you have a specific idea shoot it over and we can start jamming! |
