Question about how to limit a kick/bass in FL..

I have always been kinda afraid to ask this question lol.

But it pisses me off and yes I've checked the manual but still haven't figured it out lol.
In FL if I have a bass thats sidechained I can not limit a kick in that same channel because the kick will drop WITH the drop in the chain, common sense.

So your second natural thought is I have to route them both to another track together. However, in FL if you're layering basses, and want different channels, you need to use a send. So you are ALREADY using a send to layer, But in FL you can't send from one send to another.

SO how the hell do you a limit a kick and bass in FL properly when the bass is sidechained (well I mean "wave ducked" or w/e when the volume itself goes up and down). This is for FL8 btw as I have never been able to update, havent reformatted yet. I know if you cick the "inserts" you can insert one channel into another, but I've never understood why you can't send the entire signal by clicking on inserts? It seems to send half the volume signal into the channel you click, but theres no way to adjust it so it doesn't work for what I'm talking about.

move the peak controller above the limiter...

1. Make an Insert with a Limiter/Compressor.

2. Click on your kick insert channel

3. Disable send to master by clicking the little yellow arrow lit up under the master channel

4. Enable send to Limiter/Compressor channel and make sure the knob is at 100%

5. Rinse and repeat for all other sounds u are trying to include

Haha YES that has to be the coolest "trick" I've learned in years! So much bouncier sounding now thanks! Really simple too I just didnt realize you had to shut the master send off, makes sense now lol

Wow do most of you limit your kick bass together?

I've read on here that its common practice I just never realized how bouncy and incredibly full even slight limiting does to the kick/bass line sound. ESPECIALLY with the sidechain on the bouncy factor is like nothing I've heard before.

Even at lower levels which is great. Will prob use this for the rest of my life now..
