If a reasonably trained driver can still pass a driving test while under the influence of [whatever], it should be permitted.
If MADD or anybody else believes this not to be a sufficient condition, then it implies that the test is so fatally flawed as to allow impaired or incompetent drivers to pass; therefore what needs to be fixed is our licensing system, not the regulations applying to licensed drivers.
I'm not qualified to say what BAC would cause a statistically significant number of drivers to fail a standard driving test, but I strongly suspect that the number is well above zero. |

We used to joke about it, but take the test, pass.. have a drink, wait 30mins, take the test again, pass... have a drink, wait 30 min, take the test, pass... repeat until fail, or you reach a reasonable threshold where enough is enough, 5 drinks perhaps... THAT'S YOUR LEGAL BAC!
I know people I don't even want to follow in a car after they have a single drink, let alone be in the car with them (For that matter, sober as a bird).
I know people I can feel totally comfortable in the car with after they have 4 or 5.
Flame me if you want, but I think each person had their own personal limit.
(I know this would never happen) but in a perfect world lol.
I've said this before, i'm WAY more worried about the guy driving after pulling a double shift at the factory, or working 18 hours at the hospital being on the road than the guy who split a few pitchers with his buddy's watching the game at the local bar. |

Exactly. Have the trains come by every 15-30 minutes with less cars per train: Friday and Saturday nights. Absolutely no reason for the trains to be operating 24/7.
As for the issue at hand: Two drinks should be allowed. I'm sorry, but I'm not a ing pansy that can't hold his liquor. In many cases I'm actually more alert after having a few drinks than I am without. Of course it's all within reason. I'd never get behind the wheel after doing shots of vodka all night or pounding back 8 beers. At the same time, there's people out there that I wouldn't get in the car with whether they're sober or not. Some people are an accident waiting to happen when they're behind the wheel. |

Impaired driving is impaired driving. There's more than one way to become impaired.
If police would properly enforce careless driving laws instead of wasting their time (and our money) on frivolous infractions, then all of these supplementary "it's probably dangerous" laws would be unnecessary. But that would require actual skill and training rather than blind adherence to regulations and electronic devices. |
