Thinking of going this year as a substitute for WMC but I have never been to Playa (or Mexico for that matter)and I would like to know some things about BPM.

How exactly does it all work? My understanding is that buying the pass gets you into every party?

http://www.wantickets.com/Events/79...-1-10-2010.aspx

Do they use different venues at all during the conference or do events happen at the same club every day / night.

Can I expect to be raped at the bar like in Miami / Vegas / Ibiza?

Where would be a good spot to stay in Playa Del Carmen? I'd like a spot close to the clubs and events but also I wouldnt want to stay somewhere where the party is pumping 24 / 7 (I also value peace and quiet).

Would it be better to rent a villa or condo or is doing the all-inclusive thing the way to go?

Can anyone that has been before shed some insight into this ...

I havent been YET but I am going in a month. All-inclusive at the RIU hotels gives you all-inclusive access to any of their 5 resorts (ie: you can use their restaurants, bars, lounges, clubs, etc for free). There are refillable liquor dispsnsers in the room, free water sports, etc etc. The ONLY thing we pay extra for is the spa. 8 days plus flight was around $1100, and that included groudn transpo from cancun. Not bad, sonsidering its the nicest resorts in town AND you get access to all 5.

*8waits for Malek to put his 2 cents in** :)

Try Selloffvacations.com first - they have the lowest mark-up on any trip. One issue with RIU is that its all inclusive and all events are off the property so all-inclusive is not really needed for BPM.

If you want a really good price on a non all inclusive try www.breakawaytours.com which has a place right downtown within walking distance of all the events.

I think it helps because you have free pre-game drinks, free food, free water activities, tips and taxes, etc....buy the BPM ticket and you are pretty much set for the week.

You really have to compare if the package is going to be more or less than the extra spending money you will need for the "non" free food and drinks all week.

I used expedia. During mid-week their prices are the lowest.

Yup, Riu is amazing, that's where I went last year (not to BPM, just to Mexico). All-inclusive really means all-inclusive and they work very hard to keep everybody entertained and happy.

$1100 for a week sounds about right if you book reasonably well in advance. I just went on Travelocity (or maybe Expedia) and booked the cheapest one, lol - I think it was Sunquest but it might have been Signature. They're all pretty much the same.

You don't have to get all-inclusive... but I think you'd regret doing it any other way. Every one of these events will milk you. I'm just thinking of DEMF, the fiasco with the VIP drink tickets, how much we spent at the hotel and the liquor store... you'll have a much better time knowing you can swing back to the hotel pretty much whenever you want for R&R&R.

Big Boss
I went this year. It was a lot of fun.

It's way different than WMC. More intimate. Great place to bring a chick too...

I can vouch for Riu. Been at 5 different Riu resorts and they rank from 7.5 to 10/10 in my book.
