So I was looking up some dj gears and happened to stumble upon these beautiful machines being put out for $1800!!! that's right $1800 for 2cdj1000mk3 and 1djm-800 and 1 hdj-1000. I'm not gonna lie, i'm actually desperate myself to get my hands on these babies, but thx to my e-intelligence, I was able to catch a scammer in the act. Who knows how many people hes scammed already. This dude claim that the set is barely used and that he has "financial problems" thus getting rid of it for "$1800". He also stated, "my lost is your gain", hoping that he'll convince some poor desperate person to buy it.
*HERE IS THE LINK HE POSTED IN*

So this is how i caught him.
I used my everyday email account to contact him at first, asking why he is selling it and if there is anything wrong with it.
His reply:
Hi, I sell them so cheap because I have some financial problems and in this way I want to end them fast. The equipment is in perfect working order and comes with all accessories and manuals , the price is only $1800 , in this price the shipping and handling fees are included.
Everything will be done through the eBay Trust and Safety Department. Everything will be insured by eBay. So please let me know your full name and address and I will contact them right away regarding our transaction. They will send you an invoice as soon as possible and they will let you know what you have to do.
Please let me know if you are interested.
PS: The headphones are HDJ 1000.
I then ask him:
are you in a rush to sell them? is it okay if I use paypal to purchase it?"
his reply:
Yes I'm really in a rush , I don't know if I can hold them till next month. I will try to keep them but if anyone comes with the money I will sell them.
I can't take paypal because I'm in divorce with my wife and all my accounts are blocked.
Then I ask:
May i see some pictures of everything? I want the 4 electronics to be put side by side of each other, at different angles"
His reply:
*send pictures of it. however, did not do as i asked*
THE END FOR NOW, STILL INVESTIGATING TO MAKE SURE HE IS %100 SCAMMER

all the pictures he sent, the machines were seperated. I then got suspicious of the pictures and decided to look it up on google image. Luckily, I came across this website:
http://newyork.olx.com/twin-pioneer...er-iid-13335280
they sent the same picture that is posted on this link

EDIT:
I forget to add that one other way that got me suspicious is that I used a fake yahoo account to contact him. I asked him instead of paying 1800(which is already ridiculous) can i pay 1500(which is overly ridiculous)and that if he agreed i will give him my name, address right away, and also send him the money right away. He answered yes without any hesitation.

let me know what you guys think. However, I am not perfect and this guy could be legit, so please correct me if you think I'm wrong :)
Thanks for reading;)

The excuse for not using Paypal is ridiculous and the fact that he took the pics from the internet should be enough to tell there's at least something fishy going on.

Ask him if he can please take the pictures of the equipment the way you asked. If he doesn't comply, he's definitely trying to rip you off.

yeah, i think he is definitely a scammer. I asked him on my fake account to take pictures exactly how i want it, and he didn't reply.

Scare the out of him.

Agree to everything, but call him, get his address and number. Basically all his personal info.

And just bug him to death. I think that will teach the rich kid to not with real music lovers.

lol yeah, ill give it a try. the funny thing is, he said once im ready to purchase this scam, "Everything will be done through the eBay Trust and Safety Department. Everything will be insured by eBay."
This kind a knocked me off. Is this possible to do? Like, selling something from a different website, then asking ebay for help? The only way to kno for sure is if i give him my address and name. I dont wanna do that lol.
woscar
Tell him to do it through eBay then.

Rule number one of the internets - if something seems too good to be true, it usually is.

I think there's an entire site dedicated to scamming the scammers, I just can't remember where...
