Pretty good question actually. I would venture a guess that DJ's are so passionate about the music that they do a pretty thorough job of keeping tabs on the individual artists. Most DJs/producers have websites, and all artists are pretty quick about promoting their songs via their websites. If you're a dedicated DJ, I'll bet you activly follow hundreds if not thousands of artists waiting for them to produce something new. If an artist is brand new to the scene, they most likely spam their tracks to producers like Armin, Tiesto, Corstein etc, etc, etc to promote their work, and eventually someone will play it in a club. The real question - for someone relatively new to the scene (like me), is this: Is there a good site (besides this one) that does the job of tracking all of these artists and their new & upcoming songs?

DJs get their music through promo pools.
Then after filling out the required feedback reply to each promo--in which they lie that they like it because they want to keep getting free music--they don't play the song at all.
Then labels will take them off the promo list and the djs start downloading promos on the internet. "oh i dun need to right ne more"

the big 5 armin,tiesto,pvd,ferry and above&beyond all have their radioshow so they should get load of material sent to them every week and all(excp. tiesto) have their own label armada,vandit, flashover,anjuna... so yea i know that if you release most of yourstuff through those label, they will share new releases with you, as DJ's want their records to be played everywhere, so yea their record labels hook them up..
