Lol, I'm seriously trying to get through that damn show but for every episode questioning what it means to be human, I have to sit through three about Starbuck being an alcoholic or Chief marrying the girl he beat the out of. There's so much angst in that show that I feel like I'm watching Twilight in space.

Haha, I DID warn you that season 3 was pretty damned ordinary. its what happens when studio execs think they know what makes a good show. Fight your way through it, it’ll be worth it. season 4 (including razor) is a far more driven and directed affair, though sometimes still a little silly with regards to plot choices.

For me that’s my biggest criticism (other than “season 3 is !”). I think too many of the plot choices felt a little contrived, and had characters behaving more in line with what the show wanted, rather than what I felt might be their natural tendency. Still though, I can forgive the odd flaw when the camera work is so freakingly awesome!

Haha, sometimes I wonder if we're watching the same show. I love the philosophy involved - the question of what makes something human always gets me (I am probably the lone person who loved Kubrick/Spielberg's AI: Artificial Intelligence). But Jesus, the production and acting is so... Canadian!

Good to see that there are some original ideas coming out.

This is far from totally original, it basically sounds like Childhoods End.

hahha, i wonder too :p

i loved spielberg's AI, except the end which was just downright awful. but yeah, i don't see what your beef with the BSG acting is. not always perfect of course, but i didnt find too much that rang hollow. every single one of admiral adama's lines is as close to perfection as we're ever likely to get!

edit: look, even ty season 3 receives "universal acclaim" :p

I agree. While the acting is far from perfect it's much better than what one would expect out of a sci-fi show (keep that in mind as well). The show isn't perfect but it's easily the best damn thing to happen to sci-fi television in a long time (unless you consider Lost to be sci-fi...which it kinda is, but also isn't).

I have to say that it also has one of the best series finales ever; which are extremely hard to do well.

Which probably took off of Childhoods End, which was published 30 years before the show aired.

Ha, well it's still in my queue. Though I do have to admit that just the fact that Gaius Mcforbrains survives to season 4 is a huge deterrent. God, that guy is a ponce.

Nov 3..

And lez, stick with BSG. I agree Season 3 was the weakest one by far..but the payoff is worth it. Just sit down on your day off and knock it out in a viewing marathon so you can move on.
