Hey guys!
I was wondering if you know of any travel sites for cheap flights.
I am trying to find a flight from LAX to JAX around Christmas time.
I usually have good luck finding super cheap flights but my luck is not with me this time.
I have looked on:
Yahoo(RIP OFF)
Bing.com
Hotwire
Expedia
traveloicty (RIP OFF)
Orbitz
Onetravle(RIP OFF)
Cheepoair (RIP OFF)
Cheaptickets
priceline
used Tripmama and bookingbuddy too!
UGH! So far it looks like we will be spending what it took for us to get to Ibiza to get to the east cost! :( WTF!
:whip:  |

Word is that fares this season are going to be the highest travelers have paid yet, and to buy tickets as early as possible as they are just going to get higher.
Kinda sucks.. |

| it is really cheaper to go to europe than the east coast. that's why my wife & i just take our trips to other countries. |

Bing Travel (aka Farecast) will tell you pretty much the lowest fares you can find anywhere on the net -- it's a metasearch engine as it essentially looks at every worthwhile travel website there is out there along with the airline's websites themselves and gives you the lowest price it finds among them all. The only airline you have to check seperately usually is Southwest.
Anyhow, I've been looking at flight prices too and yep...flights are ludicrous too.
If you don't mind possible getting a janked connectionm, you can try priceline. I used to always get roundtrips between SF and Orlando during Xmas time for like $180 round trip through priceline. Always at least one connection (two max....heck, maybe it's one connection max) and most of the time they aren't bad (Pheonix, Vegas, Atlanta maybe), but sometims youc an get a janked one. I remember one year to get back to SF I went from Orlando to Pittsburg to SF. Was a long flight....especialyl since I got stuck in Pittsburg for a night cause of snow! But other than that, nothing to complain because my ticket that year was like $148!
Not sure if deals like that can still be gotten, but when I was tight on money and couldn't afford published fares, priceline saved me! |

yup, I've been using kayak more and more.
Orbitz matrix search has been timing out a lot these days.
There's not really any secret published fares anywhere that you you're not going to be able to find with any of the above sites.
And yeah holiday ticket prices bloooooooooooow.
I'm in the same boat, was supposed to go to Brazil, I had booked with miles months ago, but now having a change of plans and need a different ticket...screwed! |

kayak lists all the search engines you listed...in ONE search, instead of going to each of those 10 sites and doing a search per site. |

| the main problem IMO is JAX is a low-competition destination so you don't have many airlines to choose from and hence few fare-wars there. |

Kayak and Bing Travel (formerly farecast) both work the same way.
When it Was farecast, farecast.com and kayak looked very similar ... in just about every way!
I'd say I'd try getting a flight into Orlando and then taking the 2 1/2 drive if you can get a ride as when my parents lived in north Florida, I still flew into Orlando because it was easily the cheapest way by a couple hundred bucks, even though JAX was a bit closer to them. But right now, there's not really any difference between flying into Orlando vs. JAX... :( |
