Im from melbourne, australia and in the last 5 years or so in our town they have clamped down on liquor licences and are always trying to shut clubs down it seems.

to quote one club owner - "you need a permit to fart these days"

how is it in your neck of the woods?

You've been reading the papers too much. The media taking hold of an issue and making it seem far more prevalent than in reality is a well-documented phenomenon.
Mr.Mystery
Keep your permits in order and there's no problem.

Seems to me a lot of clubs around the world are just trying to blame "the man and his rules" because they're running their clubs sloppily.

Yeh I can say that there has been a pretty big crackdown on the regulation of clubs in Sydney

Many of the comercial/mainstream clubs in Sydney have 2am lockouts, which prevent people from entering the club after 2. This applies to 50 of the clubs that have had the most reported violence as we have a pretty big issue with alcohol related violence in clubs and on the streets.

Sydney's biggest club no longer exists as it did in its hey day and runs a top 40 night on Saturdays and a Trance night that is unable to fill the 2500 club. This has more to do with the management rather than anything else

However, the smaller clubs which run many of the events of the artists discussed in this forum really have no problems in regards to the laws and regulations. Okay the licenses for many of these clubs shut around 4-5 but at the moment we have two afterhours clubs that fill the void for us!

nah its more than that - having a chat with some of the dudes from room - they reckon the cops have been ridiculous lately - to the point where they are starting to run things like comedy nights now instead of clubnights because it means less hassle and bad attention

Not sure what time the events in your country closes, but here in Southern CA, it shuts down at 4am.
