2008 was a big year for dance music with new djs/producers across the board rewriting the rulebook and one such name for trance has been on everybody’s lips of late, Simon Patterson. Whether it was his rise to prominence on the club scene or his unprecedented achievement of 7 consecutive #1’s on Beatport (Simon also swept the #1 position on all other download stores) or his debut at #64 in the DJ Magazine Top 100, the young Belfast born, London based DJ has grown in global statue these past 12 months like never before in his career.
In five short years, Simon has gone from being a resident at the legendary Cross in London to rocking some of the biggest parties on offer. Behind the CDJ’s Simon has graced the world stage at many prolific festivals such as Dance Valley, Sunrise, Gatecrasher Summer Sound System, HI-FI, Planet Love, Monday Bar Cruise, Mexico Stadium and Full on Ferry; where he performed a special b2b set with Ferry Corsten himself. Whilst his club repertoire stands equally tall ranging from the likes of Godskitchen, Gatecrasher, The Gallery, Inside Out and Passion repeatedly book him for their events.
Exclusively signed to Spinnin’ Records, his music is some of the most powerful and innovative found in trance today and he counts Radio 1’s Judge Jules, Armin van Burren, Paul van Dyk, Marco V, and Sander van Doorn amongst his most loyal supporters. All of which is a contributing factor to the young tech-trance hotshot becoming a heavily in demand talent in dance music circles right now, and leading to Mixmag, M8, Notion and DJ Magazine all noting that his career is in ascendancy.
Enter 2009 and the Patterson bar has already been raised with Beatport labelling him “One to Watch for 2009”, ‘Thump’ tearing up playlists around the world and a tour schedule that is on overload with schedule tours in Asia, North/South America and events such as Trance Energy (Holland/Australian tour) and Armin van Burren’s ASOT Tour having requested his talents for their events – all of which points to another massive year for one of the trance scenes most charismatic stars.

Yet the year didn't start and end with 'Purple Audio' and its tour - of which Cream, Amnesia and Circus, Montreal were highlights. Huge events were like a magnet to Alex's big trance... sound, with his HeavensGate parties the cream of the crop.
