1. How to keep the vocals in time so that they don't drift!
2. Would it help if i sidechain vocals to all other parts of the track would it help the Vocals stand out more?
3. Any Tricks i can use for chopping up Acapellas?
4. How to give my drums some soul, so that they don't sound so boring!
Sorry i don't have a sample! |

bahahaha
the idea you think someone would steal it IS purely hilarious :haha:
anyway, it's a remix man, do whatever you want, there's no rules.
it's pretty much the same as composing an original track except the composition is removed, so just focus more on the sequencing and things... |

Do you know the exact tempo of the original? If not, there are some free utilities out there to determine the original BPM from the original track. Once you have that, use a WAV editor such as Sound Forge, Wavelab, Audacity (free) to re-assign the tempo of the vocal a capellas to the new tempo of your remix using one of the vocal algorithms, if you have that option.

It sounds like you're talking about ducking the rest of the track against the vocals? I wouldn't recommend that. I suggest using compression and EQ on the vocals to make them clear and balanced, get them to sit right in the mix with the drums and bass, then bring the remaining elements in around them - use EQ and panning on these instruments to carve out some space for the vox and keeping the instruments from interfering with them.

I just use the cut/slice features in my DAW to chop them up, create copies of the slices as needed and snap them to the grid at whatever resolution you're looking for. It's also helpful to put very short gain envelopes at the beginning of each slice to prevent pops/cracks or, at the very least, use your host's "snap to 0dB" option if you have it. You could also look into using something like Glitch (free), Sugar Bytes Effectrix, etc. |

What DAW? Ableton is mad for this. I'd recommend working out the tempo and any changes in the original and then tranfering this over to the accapella. thats how I do it anyway.
Don't sidechain vocals, it sounds bad.
Chopping up vocals: grab a syllable you like, arrange it in your sequencer. I don't like the recycle method personally.
For drums, it depends what you mean by soul. It'll come down to genre IMO. |

You may consider using a de-esser on the vocals to reduce sibilant sounds. |

If you use FL , you might want to try the Vocodex on percussions .
It really works great on percussion too. (Who said vocoders cant be used on drums?)
If your doing uplifting trance , IMO simple hi hats would do , uplifting trance doesn't really focus on percussions. |

A highpass filtered drum sample with some effects on it usually does the trick. |
