Looks like we'll be going to Phoenix this year for 10 days over the holidays. Just wanted to know what clubs are in the area that we should check out. From what I have read so far is that Cream, Axis and Myst are places to go but was also looking for other clubs that would play trance or progressive or is a must to check out.
I see some big acts coming up in the area that would be awesome to go see... Deadmau5, AVB, Cosmic Gate and RANK friggin' 1 but unfortunately won't be around for any of these, although living in the Toronto area Deadmau5 and Armin are like permanent residents there anyways and have seen enough of them lately anyways.
Any help is appreciated and thanks in advance.

I spent May 06 – Nov 08 in Phoenix (actually I lived in Scottsdale). They don’t have a tremendously huge scene, but do get big time djs on a fairly regular basis at the trendy night clubs in Scottsdale.
When I was there, Myst in Scottsdale was the place all the big djs spun.
When Tiesto and PVD came to town they played events at this place called the Marquee Theater in Tempe.
I’ve been away for a bit now, but I think the hot club right now is Cream Stereo Lounge in Old Town Scottsdale.
http://www.myspace.com/house7340 is the group that brings most of the big name talent to the city.
When you stay, I highly recommend you try and stay in the Old Town Scottsdale area. It’s hip and trendy, yet very Arizona-touristy and safe and comfortable. Either that, or down in Old Town Tempe by ASU. You don’t want to stay in downtown Phoenix. The place is dead after dark, and theres nothing really down there.
For Scottsdale, search for hotels in the area of Scottsdale Road and Camelback Road. There’s a brand new “W” hotel there that’s pretty sweet. Walking distance to many clubs and bars in the area. There’s a Hyatt Place hotel there in Old Towne that literally shares the parking lot with Cream.
They have an ok underground scene there... but its full of kiddies and local djs mostly. Not to say that’s bad… just a different type of scene. I went to a couple really cool raves there, but nothing to write home about. |
