Christmas to NYD holiday - Seattle/Vancouver?

Hey all, i'll be studying abroad for the winter semester in Vancouver and booked my one way flight to Seattle on Christmas (arriving on Xmas Midday). I'm thinking of spending my time in seattle until nyd and then make my way up to Vancouver. Or spend a few nights in seattle and buy some snowboard/outdoor equipment and make a train up to Vancouver and party it over there.

I'm really only looking for a place to meet and hang out with some people to check out some house/trance events. I've been looking up on this forum and RA and was pretty shocked how there was no events listed in either city for the month of december. What's up with that?

I'm into all sorts of EDM but particularly like techno, minimal and trance (in bigger events). Which city would be more welcoming in terms of general ease of mobility and getting into places very casually dressed? Which city has the most young night owls? What spots should i check out? I think i might stay at the Green Tortoise hostel (location http://maps.google.com.au/maps?hl=e...ved=0CAsQnwIwAA) Is this a good location for nightlife?

The other option could be to spend my time at a snow resort but i think getting accommodation is gonna be tough. What do you guys think i should do?

Cheers

pioneer square area is where you want to be. yesler way and 1st ave is central to my fave clubs in seattle.

seen some big acts at trinity, club heaven and the last supper club. LSC still brings in headline talent on a regular basis, Darude was just up there last week i believe. not sure how heaven is doing, but my friend who came up to SF LE last month is actually up in seattle this weekend and i sent his group to trinity last nite and he had a good time. 3 rooms, 3 diferent types of music, personally i liked trinity as a venue the best.

dave dresden, above and beyond and bad boy bill at LSC before 2009 ends.
